Trout Fishing

Whether you have never cast a line or are a seasoned angler Rhidoroch has something for all. The two mile long Loch Achall sits at the middle of the glen and has easy roadside access all along its northern shore. The trout here average just under the pound but what they lack in size they make up for in number making it perfect for less experience anglers. The hill lochs which support big bonnie wild brownies require a little more skill and patience, but the rewards are well worth it.

A boat on Loch Achall (just 50 yards from the house) is available for house guests at all times in the boathouse and a second boat can also be made available. Guests staying in the cottage can bank fish for trout.

Salmon Fishing

The estate offers exclusive access to four rods on the Ullapool River, a renowned waterway fed by Loch Achall. Flowing westward, the river is a spate river, with conditions often lasting for three to four days following rainfall.

The river offers excellent fly fishing, with two beats spanning a two-mile stretch of accessible fishing on both banks. The Upper Beat begins with gentle flows and long pools, making it ideal for fly fishing. The Middle Beat is home to the famous Ness Pool at its head, followed by the stunning Cromarty Pool, known for its beauty and productivity. Beyond this, there are seven more pools and several productive runs to explore.

All salmon fishing at Rhidorroch is strictly catch and release, preserving the health of the river’s stock for future generations of anglers.

A ghillie is available should you require.

Day/week/seasonal tickets for bank fishing on Loch Achall and day tickets for the lower beat of the Ullapool river are available from our local Hardware store in Ullapool, Lochbroom Hardware, where you can also find fishing tackle.
